What is Hypnotherapy?
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is an enjoyable, safe and effective treatment that combines a talking therapy with relaxing trance (the hypnotherapy part of the session). Trance is perfectly natural and normal and we go into it several times a day when we our mind relaxes and this is similar to daydreaming or when completely absorbed in something i.e when out running, driving, watching television etc.. Hypnotherapy looks forward and not back and you set yourself goals, with small realistic steps, that you want to achieve. It is a positive treatment where we focus on what is good in your life and make you more aware of these things by clearing away the clutter and thoughts that sometimes get in the way, this helps you think more intellectually and come up with solutions and change old negative thought patterns. It focusses on your strengths and makes you realise how great you really are. If you are committed to change and want it to happen then you are halfway there and with my help and guidance and your willingness to work at it then great changes can be achieved in a relatively short time.
What happens during a session?
The first contact is often a telephone call or message where we may briefly discus what you want help with and then we will organise a free initial consultation.
At the Initial consultation we will expand on what you want help with, your expectations and what you hope to achieve. I will then explain how Hypnotherapy can help, how the brain works in simple terms, why you are suffering in the way you are and what we can do about it by working together. I will also explain how the following sessions work and you will be sent a relaxation MP3 or leave with a CD which you will need to listen to every night before sleeping.
At the sessions we will talk about what has been good and positive during your week, I will recap how the brain works, we discuss what small steps you could perhaps take to move forward and then we do we do a nice relaxing trance session. It is all a positive and enjoyable experience with no looking back, judgement or negativity and sessions are often good fun!!
